Andrew Weaver

Andrew Weaver, the Brevard County State Attorney, has been accused of sexual misconduct with minors. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in state prison. Florida law prohibits older people from having sexual contact with minors. There are reports that Weaver had other victims as well. Detectives in West Melbourne discovered that Weaver had been on a popular social networking website called Grindr, which is typically used by gay men.

Bruce L. Bartlett

Bruce Bartlett was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, and has been a trial attorney for over 40 years. He has served as Chief Assistant State Attorney under former State Attorney Bernie McCabe and prosecuted countless capital murder cases throughout the state. He has also overseen the Grand Jury and indictment process for Pinellas and Pasco counties.

Bartlett was appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis, who named him to fill the position after the death of Bernie McCabe. Bartlett, who had served as the Brevard County State Attorney since 1992, was previously a Chief Assistant County Attorney. He has said that he plans to run for Special Election in 2022.

Duties of a state attorney
